Daily Prayer - Steps of a Ponderer

Sample Steps of a  Ponderer

  1. 6:00 AM Alarm
  2. 6:30 AM Appointment with Jesus in Prayer Chair
  3. Quiet your mind and your to do list and Say “Good morning, Jesus!”
  4. Slowly, “In the Name of the Father who is our Powerful Creator, and the Son who is our Merciful Savior, and the Holy Spirit who is our wise counselor, I pray:”
  5. Look up Daily Mass Readings and write them in my journal, date the page. (or pick Scripture section or Ponderings Card Verse)
  6. Open my Bible (RSV 2nd Catholic Edition with Great Adventure Timeline Bible Tabs) to the first reading.
  7. Place my hands on the pages and pray the Come Holy Spirit Prayer:
Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray.  O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
 did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit.
 we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations.
 Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
  1. Lectio Divina Meditation on all three Scripture Verses. I usually write reflections and favorite Scripture Verses or phrases or questions in my journal. If time permits, I read the corresponding Commentary from In Conversations with God by Father Francis Fernandez
  2. Close with Prayer. Sometimes a Rosary. Ponderings Prayer. Adoration. Praise. Forgiveness. Intentions. Petitions. Thanksgiving. Etc.
  3. Write my favorite verse or phrase on the front of my 3 x 5” notecard, Date the back of the card and write my resolution for the day on the back. Slip into my plastic sleeve and head out for the day! AMEN.
