Pondering LOVE #4

A series of meditative questions about love.

What is Love?

As we Ponder love, we first challenged ourselves by asking if we love like we love Jesus?  He told us in Scripture that Love is the greatest and to Love one another like He loves us, which begs the question – How does Jesus’ love?  We read about His unconditional, FREE, TOTAL, FAITHFUL, FRUITFUL Love for us.  So, this week the question is, “What is Love?”  Let’s see what he tells us in Scripture:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 @ Love IS – patient, kind, not jealous, not boastful, not arrogant, not rude. Love does not insist on its own way, is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong; it rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends…

Is this what my love looks like? Sounds like? With my husband, my mother, my mother in law, my sister, my neighbors, my children, my colleagues?  yikes!  This is a tall order and very difficult if we only rely on our own emotions or strength.  God’s grace and His mercy allow and strengthen us to love this heroically with every person, every day, in every situation.  This heroic love is impossible if we don’t depend on God and allow HIM to love in us and through us.  God is asking us to stay connected to Him and to love Him back simply and trustingly and love all his children too. Happy loving this week!

 Inspired by:

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in [your] weakness.

Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.”

PRAYER:

In the name of the Father, who is my powerful Creator, and the Son who is my merciful Savior, and the Holy Spirit who is my wise counselor, I pray:  Oh, my Jesus, I surrender myself to you. I surrender to your LOVE. Please order my day. Order my calendar. Order my to do list. Order my loves, purify my thoughts and motives, and soften my words. Help me to love well, listen well, serve well, and forgive well this day. Lead me in love, to love one another earnestly from my heart. Please order this day to Love for the Glory of our good and gracious God.

AMEN.
