Pondering LOVE #1

A series of meditative questions about love.

Do I Love like I love Jesus?

Growing in holiness and virtue is possible through the transforming power of God’s grace and mercy.  Knowing yourself is a key step in the process of spiritual growth. Spend a few minutes a day, asking yourself challenging questions about your faith, your attitudes, your words, your motives, and your actions. Ask God to help you see where your attitudes are misguided or need improvement. Meditative prayer or mental prayer is a key part of your relationship with Jesus. As He told St. Faustina, “Talk to Me simply, as a friend to a friend. Tell Me now, My child, what hinders you from advancing in holiness?” (Diary of Divine Mercy, #1487, PG. 527) I want to encourage each of you to spend time with Him deepening your interior spiritual lives.  Spend time meditating on His WORDs to you in Holy Scripture, letting them challenge you, comfort you and sometimes chasten you. You won’t be disappointed. Since Love is the greatest: "Do I love like I love Jesus?"

Inspired by:

John 21:16 “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”  (How readily can you answer this personal question if Jesus is looking you in the eye?)

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?

John 15: 9, 12, 16-17 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. This I command you, to love one another.

“In the evening of life, we will be judged on love alone.”
St. John of the Cross
